WILBERFORCE, Ohio (WDTN) - Wilberforce University celebrated Arbor Day Wednesday with a tree planting.
Students and staff planted 50 trees. The trees were supplied by the Arbor Day Foundation.
The campaign celebrates the university's commitment to improving tree care. Wilberforce hopes to be honored with Tree Campus USA status by the foundation.
The trees were planted between the Allen Commons Student Union and the Wolfe Administration Building, along a major campus walkway.
The Arbor Day Foundation and Toyota helped campuses nationwide plant 30,000 trees in 2011 and have invested more than $22-million in campus forest management.
