FAIRBORN, Ohio (WDTN) - Your neighbor's sitting in the nice air conditioning, and you're outside sweating in the heat or you hear 2 NEWS talk about crews working around the clock and you wonder why they don't have time for you.
So why the delay in getting power back for some?
We're told Dayton Power and Light crews start with the repairs that would help the most people and then go from there.
Last on the list are the service lines that go directly into your house. If one of those is damaged, you could be waiting a while because the only one impacted by that is you.
Unfortunately, when one fix can help 100 people it takes precedence, so sometimes a single house or side of the street may be without power, while the rest of the neighborhood has it.
It could be until Friday before power is restored to some of those individual homes.
"I know that's a very frustrating situation," says Bryce Nickel, Senior Vice President of Operations for Dayton Power and Light. "The best advice I can offer is be neighborly. Help the folks without power, especially in this heat."
A few other things to remember if you don't have power.
Turn off all appliances so when the power comes back on they don't come back on and start a fire.
Watch out for downed lines and treat them as live.
If you use a generator, follow the instructions.
