XENIA, Ohio (WDTN) - SWAT team members surrounded a home in Xenia early Monday morning after a man they said was involved in a domestic violence situation wouldn't respond to officials.

Crews blocked off the 400 block of Ridgebury Drive some time before 1:30 a.m.

Captain David Pazynski with the Xenia Police Department told 2 NEWS the ex-girlfriend of 37-year-old  Anthony J. Marlin called police after the two got into a fight at her house.

Before officers arrived at the woman's house, Marlin had returned to his Ridgebury Drive home, where officials tried to contact him.

Pazynski said a hostage negotiation team talked to the Marlin on the phone and he told officials he had taken medication and was suicidal.

The SWAT team was called, and eventually was forced to use tear gas to lure the Marlin out of the house.

He was taken into custody and taken to a hospital to be checked out.

Marlin was initially charged with burglary and assault. Other charges may be filed after the case is reviewed by the Prosecutor's Office.

The standoff prompted officials to put St. Brigid School, Xenia Christian and Xenia Community schools on a two hour delay.
