FAIRBORN, Ohio (WDTN) - Wright State University campus police received information about a group of men they said were planning to target female students this weekend and Halloween night.

Officials said the men planned to wear masks and look specifically for women who are walking alone-- their intent was to assault them.

We haven't been told who campus officials received the tip from.

They were actively investigating, and looking into all possible leads in the case.

2 NEWS spoke with several students on campus to get their thoughts on the threat.

"For the most part I'm not too worried about it," says Wright State junior McKenna Warfel. "I'm normally with a lot of people. I travel with a lot of people on campus."

Grad student Larysa Gilbert says she actually has a class on Halloween night.

"I have a friend I have class with we normally walk together but we're still two girls on campus," Gilbert says.

If you were planning on being on or around campus this weekend, campus officials passed along the following safety tips: Don't walk alone, carry your cell phone with you, travel in well-lit areas, always pay attention to your surroundings, and report any suspicious activity you see.

There are also campus Safe Escorts, who will walk you to wherever you're going. They're available every day from 8 p.m. to midnight.

To call and arrange that, or to report anything to the Police Department, call 775-2111.
