BEAVERCREEK, Ohio (WDTN) - It only took a minute for two thieves to pocket $500 from a Beavercreek vending machine.
It was all caught on surveillance video inside the Mall at Fairfield Commons September 7 around 3:00 pm.
"He's got this tool in his pocket, she's his look out," said Capt. Jeff Fiorita, Beavercreek Police Department.
The man reached for the vending machines, taking breaks every few seconds to wait for those coming in and out of the restrooms near the food court.
"He's catching the eye of folks," said Capt. Fiorita.
Still, he found time to work the top of the door, then the bottom and in about a minute, he cracked the door open.
He gave the money to his accomplice, and the crime wasn't discovered until about a week later when the machine company came to restock.
"A maintenance person came in to work on his machines at the Mall at Fairfield Commons and noticed that three of them had been tampered with," said Capt. Fiorita. "What's unique about this is again, they were right in the main thoroughfare of the mall not far from the food court and it's obviously something they've done in the past because he had some type of tool that allows him to quickly access this vending machine."
If you recognize the pair in the video, call Crime Stoppers at 222-7867.
