Suspect arrested for football theft

FAIRBORN, Ohio (WDTN) - A suspect has been charged for allegedly stealing money from the Fairborn Wee Hawks last month.

Officers were dispatched to the Cemex Football Park, 701 W. Yellow Springs-Fairfield Road, on Saturday, Sept. 15 in reference to a missing money bag containing approximately $165 from the Fairborn Wee Hawks fund-raising and merchandise funds.

According to Michael Spehar, Wee Hawks Board President, a parent involved with the youth cheer and football program, which serves more than 250 children, was caught attempting to take another person’s purse and the police were notified immediately.

“The same parent is also suspected of keeping funds collected during the 50/50 raffle and for falsifying the winning tickets as well as for being responsible for a missing money bag that she had been seen near,” Spehar said.

On Friday, Oct. 5, Amy S. Williams, 29, of Fairborn was charged with cheating-corrupting sports, a fifth degree felony, and is scheduled to appear in Greene County Common Pleas court on Oct. 26.

“Ms. Williams was suspected that day but detectives were waiting for more information before she could be charged,” said Fairborn Sgt. Paul Hicks.

Williams was previously charged with petty theft, theft of elderly and possession of drugs following the Sept. 15 incident involving the purse.
