WEST CARROLLTON, Ohio (WDTN) - A local organization helps shred papers while preventing identity theft.

MONCO Secure Document Destruction and Scanning kicked off a free shred day on Saturday at 9 a.m. at its operations center at 700 Liberty Lane.

The event is an opportunity to shred personal documents, old tax information, and confidential papers.

Free shredding runs from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The shredded paper from today's event will be sold to a reprocessing business where it is recycled. A portion of the proceeds will be distributed to the workers at MONCO.

MONCO is a not-for profit organization administered by the Montgomery County Board of Developmental Disabilities Services (DDS) that helps adult individuals with disabilities find employment.
