XENIA, Ohio (WDTN) - A shuttered store front re-opened Monday after nine years.

Rural King opened Monday in Xenia in West Park Square just off of U.S. Route 35.  It fills the old Walmart store.

52 employees have been hired since December.

Rural King is a farm and home department store, selling lawn and garden products, work clothing, shoes and boots, furniture, tools and food.

"There's always a need for a Rural King.  We sell a lot of diverse types of merchandise that most retailers don't sell," said Mark Pistorious, Rural King.

There are 11 Rural King locations in Ohio.  This is the second in the Miami Valley.  The Huber Heights location opened last year.

Rural King is an Indiana company.
