FAIRBORN, Ohio (WDTN) - A busy stretch of road through Greene County closed Tuesday morning as construction workers moved fence and barricades into place.
The closure affects Route 444 and the plan will re-route traffic between Dayton Drive and Dayton-Yellow Springs Road. One alternative route will be to take Kauffman Avenue.
17,000 drivers use the route daily. All will have to find a new way to travel.
The area of Dayton-Yellow Springs Road to Dayton Drive is on WPAFB property. The changes are for security purposes.
Officials will put up new signs and changing signal timing, as well as putting up additional signals to accommodate the new traffic pattern.
"Whatever issues develop, we will be addressing those issues accordingly. So, its going to be a matter of time where we talk about those solutions and funding for those solutions and then of course construction of whatever solutions come to light," said Jim Sawyer, Fairborn City Engineer.
