Michael's House honored for excellence

FAIRBORN, Ohio (WDTN) - A local center that works with abused children received a seal of approval Wednesday.

Michael's House Child Advocacy Center was awarded accreditation from the National Children's Alliance.

The alliance commended Michael's House for its delivery of quality and effective services to child abuse victims.

Accreditation comes after extensive application and site reviews.  It is the highest level of membership in the NCA.

Michael's House started providing services in January 2009.  It assists with the investigation, prosecution and treatment of abused children.

Michael's House helps more than 500 children from Greene County and surrounding areas each year.

"As an organization with a team of individuals dedicated to responding to child abuse, we recognize the importance of accreditation from National Children's Alliance and supporting the Multidisciplinary Team approach.  Accreditation not only validates our proven effective approach to responding to allegations of child abuse in Greene County, but also provides consistency across the child advocacy center movement as a whole," said Jeannette Adkins, Executive Director of Michael's House.
