BEAVERCREEK, Ohio (WDTN) - A Sikh community gathered Wednesday evening to honor those murdered at a Wisconsin temple.

Police say Wade Michael Page opened fire in the Sikh temple in Oak Creek Sunday, August 5, killing six people.  The FBI said Page then shot and killed himself.

2 NEWS was invited to attend the service in the Gurdwara or Sikh temple in Beavercreek.

"We are deeply saddened by this.  It's a deplorable act, but we have to gather together and move forward," said Gurjeet Kahlon.

It wasn't just members of the Sikh community who came out to show their support.

Colleen Walters, who is Catholic, says this kind of violence cannot be tolerated.

"I think there is a real opportunity for us to show our presence, but also show that we are very much alike more than we're very much different," said Walters.

There are about 150 Sikh families living in the Dayton area.
