XENIA, Ohio (WDTN) - A memorial event took place at the Greene County Fairgrounds Friday to honor area first responders and veterans.
The program was called "Memorial Service- Never Forget September 11th and First Responders."
Bagpipes and bell tolls echoed the fairgrounds as Congressman Steve Austria spoke, thanking Greene County responders for their service.
"This event is different because of the background. The background merges the first responders and the veterans, and it's special," said Greene County Sheriff Gene Fischer.
The travel Vietnam Veterans Wall served as a backdrop for the memorial service. It will remain on display through Sunday.
