BELLBROOK, Ohio (WDTN) - September 17-23 has been dubbed "national child passenger safety week."
To help make sure kids are buckled up properly, the Bellbrook Fire Department will be holding a child safety seat inspection on Sunday, September 23 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the fire station on West Franklin Street.
Firefighters also offered these tips to parents:
Check the label so it's appropriate for your child's age and weight.
Have the car seat in the right place.
Kids should ride in the back seat until they are 13.
Make sure the car seat is facing the proper direction.
Use the inch test; a seat installed correctly can't move more than an inch.
Use the pinch test; if you can't "pinch" any excess harness, your child will be secure.
