Same road, new flooding problem
Factory Road waterlogged

BEAVERCREEK TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) - When the Miami Valley sees an inch or more of rain. there's one Greene County road that seems to always close.
There was some success following some improvement last year, but we were surprised to learn Factory Road was once again closed Monday.
The Greene County engineer says the problem with Factory Road was fixed as we first reported last year. Now, there's another stretch of the same road that is now dealing with flooding.
Bob Geyer Greene County Engineer says, "If you go down to the south end of the plant where the problem was it's dry, the water is up to where it was all the time before we cleaned the drift out of the stream."
The area is no stranger to road closed signs whenever it rains, but the Greene County Engineer's Office made a deal with Little Miami Inc. and the Natural Resources Conservation Service last May to clean out the creek. The water level dropped by four feet.
It's the area behind the nearby water treatment plant that's seeing the issues where the stream contains more sediment.
Engineer Bob Geyer says the road is very low and the problem can't be fixed unless you dredge the stream. "We never told anybody that this would not happen. we told them the frequency of the flooding would be diminished and it has been."
Geyer adds, "The only way to prevent it is to raise the road out of the flood plane and the cost of that is big."
So Geyer says the plan right now is to let mother nature do her work scouring the stream and cleaning out some of the sediment that should return the stream to its natural level.
