FAIRBORN, Ohio (WDTN) - A Fairborn native who was wounded in Afghanistan has died.
Christina Maddock, 27, was shot while working as a contractor for a Colorado company.
Intelligent Software Solutions told 2 NEWS that Maddock died at a German hospital on Sunday, February 17, 2013.
ISS said Maddock was serving the company in Herat, Afghanistan since mid-January. She was a field service representative supporting the International Security Assistance Force.
The military is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding her shooting. Investigators have released no details about how she died.
Maddock was a 2009 graduate of Wright State University and a graduate of Fairborn High School.
"We are deeply saddened by your loss and your loss is our loss as well. I just want to extend Wright State's strong and heartfelt sympathy and condolences to you, Christina's family, Christina's friends at your loss," said Kristin Sobolick, Dean, College of Liberal Arts, Wright State University.
Maddock's brother is currently enrolled at Wright State. His fraternity has set up a memorial fund to assist the family. Click here to access the fund.
