Ex-college official sentenced for theft

Marshall pleaded guilty on April 26, 2010

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - A former Wilberforce University employee has been ordred ordered to pay in restitution for stealing computer equipment purchased with a federal grant.

James Marshall, 28, was a network and data administrator in the Information Technology Services Department in 2007 when he stole the equipment then sold it through his established Internet business.

Marshall pleaded guilty on April 26, 2010 to one felony count of theft of government property.

On July 29, 2010, U.S. District Judge Thomas M. Rose ordered him to pay $12,614.21 in restitution and serve 100 hours of community service within the first year of a two year probation period.

The Department of Energy suspended Marshall from doing any type of contract work with any branch of the federal government.
