XENIA, Ohio (WDTN) - The City of Xenia plans to rehabilitate 19 streets in 2013, according to out partners at the Xenia Gazette.
The rehabilitation will continue a project to pave Xenia's roads that began in 2011 as a result of a .5 percent increase in city income tax. City Engineer Christopher Berger said available funds from the Municipal License Tax will also go toward the project, bringing the total funding for the rehabilitation to $650, 000.
"We all wish we had $3 million," said Berger. "But this is about as good as it gets in my opinion."
A total of 45 city roads have been paved in the two years since the project began, including Edison Blvd., Galloway St. and N. West. St.
"We probably have done more in two years than we had done in the previous ten years combined," said City Manager Jim Percival, praising the effectiveness of the road rehabilitation program. "I'm really proud of what we've been able to accomplish here."
