WILBERFORCE, Ohio (WDTN) - Central State University announced the school will accepted membership in the SIAC football conference season opener Sunday, September 2 at Welcome Stadium in Dayton.

The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Council of Presidents unanimously approved the application of Central State University as an associate football member of the SIAC, effective July 1, 2013.

The Central State University Marauders will compete against interstate rivals Kentucky State University, Lane College, Stillman College, Tuskegee University, and 2011 SIAC Champions Miles College in the West Division.  Albany State University, Benedict College, Clark Atlanta University, Fort Valley State University, and Morehouse College will continue to compete in the East Division.

"The university will play the 2012 season as a member of the Great Lakes Athletic conference, and begin a full schedule as a SIAC associate member for the 2013 season," according to Interim Athletic Director, Jahan Culbreath.

The Central State University Marauders will kick-off the 2012 football season on Sunday, September 2, at Welcome Stadium in Dayton, Ohio, against the Stillman College Tigers.
