YELLOW SPRINGS, Ohio (WDTN) - A group of Yellow Springs residents have lost their beloved garden.
Greene Metropolitan Housing bulldozed their gardens Friday.
It says the vegetables and plants growing next to the Lawson Place Apartments interfered with required upkeep standards.
Residents have been fighting to keep their gardens for months, even protesting on the streets. They still lost the fight.
"I just don't understand why they are being so hard-nosed about cutting out beautiful things that provide beauty as well as therapy as well," said Joan Horn, resident.
The housing community says it is now planning to create a community garden for their residents behind the Yellow Springs Community Center sometime next year.
