XENIA, Ohio (WDTN) - The Greene County Combined Health District (GCCHD) has announced that it will hold an H1N1 flu clinic for CDC Priority Groups only (see below) in Xenia on November 5, 2009. This clinic is for designed for Greene County residents. The clinic schedule is as follows:

Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009: 2 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the Fairgrounds; 120 Fairground Rd., Xenia; in the Assembly Hall. There is no charge for the H1N1 vaccine.

The CDC Priority Groups are:

  • everyone age 6 months to 24 years old (children under 10 years of age will need a 2nd dose of vaccine in 4 weeks or longer);
  • pregnant women;
  • people age 25-64 years with chronic health conditions: chronic health conditions are medical conditions (diseases or disorders) that cause a higher risk of influenza-related complications: chronic pulmonary/lung, cardiovascular (except high blood pressure), renal (kidney disease), hepatic (liver disease), neurologic/neuromuscular (multiple sclerosis, paralysis), hematologic (blood disorders), metabolic (including diabetes mellitus), immunosuppression (including immunosuppression caused by medications, cancers or HIV);
  • people who live with or care for infants younger than 6 months of age;
  • healthcare and emergency medical services personnel (who work in Greene County).

With these initial doses, it is very important that we vaccinate the CDC priority groups first as they have been the most adversely affected in this pandemic. Additional H1N1 flu clinics will be scheduled as more H1N1 vaccine becomes available.

Important: For faster service at the clinic, please visit our website, www.gcchd.org (click on H1N1 information and you will see a link for the H1N1 consent form to the right). Download, print and complete a form for each person who will be receiving the H1N1 vaccination. Bring your completed form with you to the clinic.

The GCCHD wishes to thank the Greene County Agricultural Society for partnering with GCCHD for this important public health event.
