SPRING VALLEY (WDTN) Ohio - Authorities located a missing resident, after a Spring Valley Township home was destroyed by fire.
The flames broke out at the Bryan Court home at about 6:30 AM on Thursday morning.
Five fire departments responded to the scene. Crews said all four sides of the home were engulfed in flames when they arrived. The heat was so intense, they were unable to get inside the home.
One woman was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Firefighters were concerned because another resident of the home was unaccounted for. They later discovered he was not at home when the fire started.
The state fire marshal's office had taken over the investigation, and said it could be days or weeks before they figured out what sparked the blaze.
Firefighters said they are not sure if the home was equipped with smoke detectors, and if those smoke detectors were working.
