XENIA, Ohio (WDTN) - After a five-day nationwide manhunt, Tiffany Tehan, the missing mother from Xenia was found 1,200 miles from Xenia.
Tehan and Tre Hutcherson were discovered in Miami Beach, Florida on Wednesday night.
Police said, it turned out this mother simply just ran away from home. She was with Tre Hutcherson of Dayton.
Police said a surveillance video showing the two of them together at the Circle K store in East Dayton is what police say cracked this case wide open.
In a press conference held outside the Xenia police department on Thursday morning, Captain Scott Anger started by saying, "most of you know Tiffany has been found safely in Florida."
Anger went on to say good old fashioned police work and hundreds of tips from the community led them to find Tehan and Tre.
Both were at the International Inn, a low budget hotel in Miami Beach, Florida.
It all started last Saturday, when Tehan vanished while out on a shopping trip.
Instead, police said she left her car at Indian Riffle Park in Kettering and took off with Hutcherson.
Police believed the two hid in the Dayton area for a couple days, but after police released surveillance pictures showing the two together, and a description of a red Volkswagon Beetle driven by Hutcherson, police said they decided to ditch the car.
Police said Hutcherson left the car at a dealership in North Dayton, swapped it for a silver-gray Chrysler Sebring, and took off for Florida, leaving behind a community filled with concern for Tehan's safety.
Family members said t was uncharacteristic for her to leave her one year old child and just disappear.
Because of circumstances and how it originated, that was the reason everything was done. This was so out of character for her," said Anger.
After a national alert, police in Miami Beach, Florida spotted the car and pulled the couple over on Wednesday night.
Both were interviewed separately. Tehan told investigators she had left home willingly and there was no force involved.
"Our goal from all this was a promise we made to the family, and we succeeded in finding Tiffany safely. That's where our investigation will end as far as any public statement," said Anger.
Captain Anger spoke to 2 News privately after the press conference. We asked him if any charges would be filed against Tehan or Hutcherson. Anger said it was possible Tehan may be charged., but Tre Hutcherson would not face any charges at this time.
