DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Pirates invaded Fairview PK-8 in Dayton Tuesday evening.

Students and their parents participated in Literacy Night.

Teachers offered parents ideas on how to get their kids to enjoy reading in and out of the classroom.

Participants walked room to room for different activities including poetry, story time, crafts and even a play complete with pirates.

There were also plenty of prizes and giveaways.

The event was held for Fairview students in grades kindergarten through second grade.
