DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Sometimes you just so happen to hit that sweet spot in golf, and occasionally Mother Nature does the same.

"It's amazing," says Jim Vernier, who was out playing nine holes at Kittyhawk Golf Course. "I don't know who set this weather up but I'll take some more of it if they'll give it to me."

The warm temperatures Friday proved as inviting to golfers as an open fairway.

Even though the weather isn't par for the course this time of year, plenty of people were ready to stick their clubs in the bag and give it their best shot.

"Golfers are a dedicated bunch," says Dayton Golf Manager Joe Parlette. "If the temperature's above 35 degrees with relatively low wind and the sun's out, they'll be here."

Nice days like the one on Friday can really get the ball rolling for golf courses because filling the cup can mean filling the coffers.

"We don't plan on days like this so every dollar we make today helps come December," Parlette says.

But they're not the only ones cashing in. Even ice can be nice on a warm day.

"I love the fact we can skate outside and look at the river and the city and on a day like this," says Leesa Haapapuro, who was ice skating at Riverscape Metropark.

The afternoon sun left its own mark on the rink, slowly melting some of the ice, but everything will be refrozen in time for 80's night, which is about the music but could almost describe the temperatures.

"I feel as if I should be wearing four layers and shivering, but it's rather nice outside," says Rebecca Bernard with Five Rivers Metroparks.
