DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - A group is considering plans to put a statue of Abraham Lincoln in front of the old Montgomery County Courthouse.

The Lincoln Society of Dayton is in the process of raising money and picking a design for the statue.

Lincoln spoke at the courthouse in September of 1859.

The group envisions something that could commemorate that speech and invigorate the community.

"To see busloads of kids stopping off at the courthouse to see the courthouse and see the sculpture of Lincoln," says the Society's President, Diane Buchanan.

But sculptures aren't cheap.

It could cost anywhere from $75,000 to $350,000.

The group is looking for help in raising the money. If you're interested visit its website .
