DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Dayton City Commissioners took another step toward the rehabilitation of abandoned properties in the city.

Commissioners signed an agreement Wednesday evening with Montgomery County's Land Bank initiative.

The non-profit board will buy up foreclosed, vacant and abandoned properties then sell it back to organizations who will redevelop it.

"By working together this is a tool we can use to turn these properties around and get them in the hands of responsible property owners," said Carolyn Rice, Montgomery County Treasurer.

Three Dayton properties are already in line for a spruce up. They are the old Dayton Electroplate on Valley Street, Ritas Construction on Leo Street and MPT Real Estate on Home Avenue.
