DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - The Corinth Presbyterian Church is holding "Blue Christmas" services for those who are struggling through the holidays.
"That is why I'm here. To remember him" Henny Tousignat attended the church's Blue Christmas service Tuesday evening because it is tough around the holidays without her son Sean.
"He was murdered 14 years ago." She said. "He got into a fight and out of nowhere someone came with a kitchen knife and struck him in the heart and he bled to death."
Many lit candles for different kinds off loss including the loss of a loved one, or a loss of a job or those struggling with pain and stress around the holidays.
"There is that expectation that you have to have a big plastic smile on your face, but we do this service so people can take that smile off for an hour and remember people they miss at Christmas time and share those struggles with God and each other." Said Pastor Dave Collins
Collins said he hopes to give people a sense of hope and faith during the Christmas season.
"A small hope is to let them know God is with them and other people are going through the same thing." He said.
"Its just become a meaningful service, granting you peace knowing that your loved ones are okay." Said church member Joanne Millard.
The Corinth Presbyterian Church will hold another Blue Christmas service on Saturday, December 19 at 4 p.m.
