DARKE COUNTY, Ohio (WDTN) - Two people were hurt in a crash in Darke County Friday night.

Crews responded to the 3100 block of US 127, about 10 miles south of Greenville, just after 8:30 P.M.

Officials on scene said 39-year-old Bryon Shannon was driving his pickup truck on US 127, swerved to avoid a deer, and crashed into a utility pole.

The Darke County Sheriff's Office said the passenger, 37-year-old Rachel Winter was flown to Miami Valley Hospital with severe injuries. Shannon was transported by ambulance to Wayne Health Care with minor injuries. A dog in the car at the time of the crash was not hurt.

According to deputies, alcohol is suspected in the accident.

Officials are still investigating the incident.
