RANDOLPH CO., Ind (WDTN) - The man who Darke County deputies say stole a car and fled police on foot through a corn field earlier this month was arrested Monday night in Randolph County, Ind.

Randolph County Deputies arrested Robert Scott Kindred as he sat inside a stolen Ford Taurus outside of an abandoned home on County Road 400 East, just south of County Road 100 South.

Deputies took him into custody on an outstanding warrant for Failure to comply with order of a police officer and receiving stolen property.

Deputies say the Taurus was stolen from Darke County on July 17, just a day after Kindred allegedly eluded deputies in the corn field .

According to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, Kindred’s capture is welcome news.

“The capture of Kindred is a huge relief to the residents of Darke County after several incidents involving Kindred in stealing cars from the Darke and Miami County areas,” a news release from the Sheriff’s office reads.

Kindred was taken to St. Vincent Randolph Hospital for medical reasons and was later transferred to Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind. for additional treatment. He will be transferred back to Darke County upon his release from the hospital.
