GREENVILLE, Ohio (WDTN) - From Miami to Darke, the northern counties were hit the hardest by the winter storm.  Residents were buried in more than a dozen inches of snow.

On Tuesday evening, Darke county was at a level 2 snow emergency.  Sheriff's officials said rural roads were treacherous, and they were experiencing blowing and drifting.

Several drivers found themselves stuck in snow drifts, several feet high, as they tried to drive around.

Jesse Denlinger was one of them.  He got stuck in a snow drift right outside his front door, as he left home to get gas.

"Makes me wanna cry. I just didn't want to get stuck in my own driveway," said Denlinger.

A tow truck driver tried to pull him out, but the snow was too deep, and too heavy. The two strap snapped into two pieces.

Sheriff's officials were worried about winds picking up on Tuesday night.  Officials expected 30-35 mile an hour gusts, and were concerned about blowing and drifting, and power outtages.

"My biggest advice is stay off the back roads, stay on the state routes if at all possible," said Darke County 911 administrator, Brandon Redmond.

Sheriffs officials advised residents to stay home tonight, unless it was an emergency.
