GREENVILLE, Ohio (WDTN) - The Level 3 snow emergency was downgraded from level three to level one, just before 6 PM on Sunday evening, in Darke County.
Residents were relieved to get a break from the storm.
Most of the main roads were clear, and traffic was flowing smoothly. Sheriff's officials responded to more than 60 crashes and slide offs on Friday, but said the weekend had been fairly quiet.
Most drivers stayed home, after the County went into a level 3 snow emergency, and that helped law enforcement officials out.
Snow plows were still pushing snow out of driveways and streets, creating huge piles of snow along sides of streets, and in parking lots.
Sheriff's officials said most of the problems were on rural and secondary roads. They were still covered with thick snow and ice. Some had been reduced down to one lane.
Officials cautioned residents to stay home on Sunday night, and get out only if they had to. Many residents said, after two days of being cooped up indoors, they were ready to take their chances, get some fresh air and run much needed errands.
"Oh, really to be cooped up for that long it just really gets to you, it's stressful, just I gotta get out, I gotta get out," said Darke County resident Nathan Bowen
The state planned to have snow plows and salt trucks out through the night, on Sunday.
Snow plow operators and grocery store managers said they were now gearing up for the next round of snow, expected to hit the area early next week.
