Volleyball tournament honors Hopper

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) - Athletes are serving up their best to raise money for Special Olympics.
Their tournament is named for a fallen Clark County deputy.
The Suzanne Hopper Memorial Volleyball Tournament began Friday night in Springfield.
Deputy Hopper's daughter served the first ball at Tecumseh Middle School.
11 teams are competing. Organizers say the tournament is a way to continue Deputy Hopper's tradition of giving.
"It's not about the way she died. It's about how she lived and this was a big part of who she was and what she stood for. She helped people whether it be in a cruiser, on a volleyball court, on a softball court, she wanted to give. Special Olympics was a very big part of her," said Wendy Donovan, organizer.
This is the sixth year for the tournament renamed for Deputy Hopper following her death in 2011.
