SPRNGFIELD TWP, Ohio (WDTN) - Investigators in Clark County are investigating two gun shop break-in that happened early Wednesday morning.

Clark County Deputies said they arrived at the Gunsmoke Firearms store at 3674 E. National Rd. at about 3:30 a.m. to find the suspects had used a motor vehicle to ram into the front of the business to get inside and steal three guns.

Sheriff Gene Kelly said upon further investigation his deputies found three guns the suspect stole were fake and only for display.

Investigators said possible the suspect figured that out and decided to give it another try because around 3:45 a.m. officials were called to the Butts and Barrels Gun Shop on West First Street.

Officials said a surveillance camera captured a Lincoln Towncar plow into the store's window. Once inside, the drive used a rock to break a glass case containing guns. According to the Springfield Police Department report, the suspect took a rifle and two other handguns.

"The guns are undoubtedly going to get into the hands of individuals who are not supposed to have guns, who are violent criminals," warned Sheriff Kelly.

Anyone having information is asked to contact the Clark County Sheriff’s Office at 937-328-2560.
