SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) - Clark County Sheriff Gene Kelly released the identity of a bank robbery suspect Tuesday.  Sean Neikirk, 30, is accused of robbing the Security National Bank in the 100 block of West Main Street in Medway Monday morning.

Sheriff Kelly said the bank teller's quick thinking helped authorities narrow their search.

"They recognized a tattoo on his neck and that info was quickly processed and we were able to eliminate several suspects," said Sheriff Kelly.

Authorities said they used bank surveillance and footage they obtained from a scrap yard to identify Neikirk.

"We have photos of him almost exactly two hours prior to this in Dayton at a scrap yard scrapping what we believe to be stolen material.  He's driving the stolen truck wearing the identical clothes standing in the same position as he was during the bank robbery," said Sheriff Kelly.

Deputies were able to piece the information together within a matter of hours with the help of the FBI and police departments in Fairborn, Troy, Dayton and Riverside.  US Marshals also helped in the search for Neikirk.

Authorities said they found Neikirk and his girlfriend in a cheap motel in Troy.  "As the detectives and agents entered the room the suspect ran into the bathroom and had a large  syringe filled with heroin and was about to inject himself," said Sheriff Kelly.

Authorities said Neikirk has an extensive criminal history including burglary, drugs and resisting arrest.

"He did resist and he was tasered inside the motel room and then taken into custody without further incident," said Sheriff Kelly.

Neikirk is charged with robbery.  He's in the Clark County Jail on $30,000 bond.  Neikirk's girlfriend, Heather Fent, is charged with complicity to robbery.
