SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) - The Clark County Combined Health District is warning residents about the discovery of a rabid bat.
The bat was found in the historic Ridgewood neighborhood.
The Red Bat found roosts mostly in trees. It hangs only 4 to 10 feet from the ground, so officials say they often come in contact with domestic animals.
The Health District wants to remind dog and cat owners to have their pets' shots up to date, including a rabies vaccine.
The Clark County Board of Health has a standing order in place that mandates all dogs and cats be vaccinated for rabies.
For more information contact the Clark County Combined Health District at 937-390-5600 or visit its website .
