SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) - Springfield Police are investigating the death of a newborn baby after her aunt called 911 to say the little girl was turning purple.
According to police records, officers were called to a home in the 300 block of East Street around 10:30 a.m. Monday after a family member discovered the baby was not breathing.
The family member told officers the last time she saw the mother and baby was around 3 a.m. when the 22-year-old mother was feeding the little girl. When she woke up around 10 a.m., she saw the mother but not the infant. The woman told police she then found the baby beneath her mother.
The woman called 911 and told medics the baby’s face was purple.
Medics arrived at he home and rushed the girl, born Jan. 31, to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
