SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) - A Springfield man faces sex charges after police say he sexually assaulted a developmentally delayed nursing home patient.
According to court documents, police were called to Heartland of Springfield back in June when a resident accused a man of fondling her.
The woman told police the man, later identified as Larry Edward Thompson, threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the incident.
Thompson, 42, told officers he was at the nursing home to visit someone and denied the allegations.
Detectives collected DNA information from the victim as well as from Thompson. On Aug. 22, police were notified that Thompson’s DNA was found in the sample taken from the victim.
Detectives met with Thompson and confronted him with the evidence on Wednesday. According to court documents, Thompson told officers he did not know how his DNA could have ended up on the victims.
He was arrested Wednesday and taken to the Clark County Jail on a preliminary charge of gross sexual imposition.
