SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) - The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of an accident that left one man dead.

The crash happened around 1:45 a.m. Sunday on U.S. 40, west of State Route 54 in Harmony Township.

Troopers stated 20-year-old Dylan Numbers of Springfield was traveling east on U.S. 40 when he lost control, slid off the right side of the roadway, and slammed into a traffic sign.

Numbers was thrown from his vehicle.

He was taken to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight where he was later pronounced dead.

Troopers are looking to see whether alcohol played a role in the crash.
