SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) - A Clark County deputy has been fired from his duties.

Sheriff Gene Kelly terminated Christopher Dent at 10 a.m. July 18, 2012.

The termination came after Sheriff Kelly reviewed the findings of an investigation Dent violated administrative allegations of insubordination and gross ethical misconduct.

On Wednesday, Sheriff Kelly sustained five of the six allegations made against Dent.

Sheriff Kelly said the seven year veteran of the force was insubordinate within the department  on three occasions.  The third resulting in his termination.

According to the Sheriff's report, Dent got into verbal arguments with his superiors, resulting in his suspension and ultimate termination.

Dent was also terminated as a result of two other offenses.

On July 7, 2012, Dent was arrested at a Marathon Station drive-thru in Springfield after officers said they observed him in his SUV, intoxicated, with a loaded gun.  Several days later, officials said Dent appeared in court drunk for his arraignment.

"We take very seriously the expectation of the public to hold us to higher standards and as I said we cannot enforce the law if we do not obey the law," said Sheriff Gene Kelly.

Sheriff Kelly said Dent has 14 days to appeal his decision.

When asked who will replace Dent, Sheriff Kelly said four new deputies will be sworn-in at the Clark County Fair July 24.  One of which will replace Dent.
