SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) - Your holidays could be ruined by burglars who strike your home in broad daylight.

Hundreds of dollars worth of items including; jewelry, phones, Twlight DVDs and a gun, stolen from at least a dozen Clark County homes over the past few days, according to the Clark County Sheriff's Office.

"All during daytime. The people go up, they knock on your front door, rung your doorbell and if you don't answer, they go around the back and kick your door in," says Sgt. Scott Elliott.

Two juveniles now  face burglary charges as well as 18-year-old Jakeb Bowermeister.  He refused to talk to 2 News as he was taken to the Clark County Jail.

Investigators say they got a call from employees at Cashland because they thought the three teens were acting suspicious.

"They were inside, attempting to sell some of the jewelry and, once we put them in custody, we recovered property off themselves, off their person and also a large amount of property out of their car," explains Sgt. Elliott.

Sgt. Elliot says the holidays are a time when they see a spike in burglaries and he has some advice for you.

"Be alert.  Anything suspicious in the area to call in, to report to us so we can at least get a car out to the area to check that person or check that car," comments Sgt. Elliott.

Investigators say there will likely be more charges filed against the teen and there may be more victims.

If you think your home has been hit by thieves, call the Clark County Sheriff's Office at (937) 521-2050.
