SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) - Clark County health officials confirmed that a 26-year old woman
has died from the swine flu.
It was the county's first death. The news came as thousands
lined up for a preventative vaccine, at the Clark County
Fairgrounds on Tuesday.
The victim of the H1N1 virus was identified as 26-year old Tasha Robinson of Springfield. Officials have said she was a healthy young woman, who was not in the high risk group, eligible to receive the vaccine at this time.
Officials said Robinson did not display the classic symptoms associated with the H1N1 flu. She appeared to have bronchitis. Officials said, the only symptoms she displayed were a cough, congestion, and headache. She did not have the high fever typically associated with the swine flu.
Officials said she got sick last Saturday, and died Tuesday morning at her home.
Clark county administered H1N1 flu mist and vaccines to more than 2,000 people on Tuesday. Officials said, they received 7,000 doses, and strongly urged those in the target group to show up and get the vaccine.
Those include pregnant women, young adults and children between the ages of 6 months and 24 years, and adults between 26-65 with chronic medical conditions.
Health officials will announce dates for more H1N1 vaccine
clinics in the future.
