SOUTH VIENNA, Ohio (WDTN) - The Clark County, Ohio Sheriff's Office is reaching out to the public to find a woman who has disappeared.
According to Sgt. Chris Clark, 56-year-old Faith Willison has been missing since July 5 when her car crashed into a tree and was found in a ditch, but there was nobody inside the vehicle.
"It would rank probably among the top ten strangest cases I've dealt with," said Clark.
A witness told deputies he saw the car veer off the road into the ditch. He turned around and was at the scene of the accident in less than five minutes, but by the time he got there, the driver was gone. The witness said the car had been turned off, and there was nobody in sight.
Willison's mother, Lou Conley said her daughter suffered from depression and anxiety. Willison's husband said she had just been released from a mental hospital two days before she disappeared.
Conley said her daughter was not the type to just disappear.
"Faith is a very, very responsible person. She would not take off like this," said Conley.
Willison's husband said he found a note stashed under a pile of papers in the house. In the note, Willison stated she was extremely depressed, she felt like she had lost everyone, and she was going back to the mental hospital.
Conley said her daughter had a strained relationship with her husband, and planned to leave him.
Detectives said they had not ruled out foul play, but they also had no evidence of any criminal activity taking place. They said there were no suspects at this time, and felt anything was possible.
"Our main concern is locating Faith Willison," Clark said. "For whatever reason, she's disappeared and we need to find Faith Willison."
Millions turned their attention skyward to view a rare "ring of fire' eclipse.
