MECHANICSBURG, Ohio (WDTN) - A Mechanicsburg man was killed Thursday when he lost control of his pickup truck and slammed into a tree.
Herbert C. Topp, 72, was eastbound on SR 29 east of Mechanicsburg just before noon when he drove off the left side of the roadway and hit a tree, said Ohio State Highway Patrol Lieutenant Matt C. Cleaveland.
Topp was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger, Douglas A. Topp, 47, of New Bremen, was taken to Madison County Hospital for serious injuries after being ejected from the truck.
Cleveland said neither man was wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.
The crash is still under investigation.
The following people have recently been booked into Jail. They may not have been convicted of the crimes they are charged with and are innocent until proven guilty.
