MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (WDTN) - A Middletown couple is facing charges after police said they locked a 12-year-old girl in the basement for two weeks.
An anonymous tip led Butler County Children's Services to a home in the 1600 block of Philadelphia Avenue July 3rd.
Police told 2 NEWS the child welfare workers asked Shawn Blackston to see his daughter, then noticed he had to unlock a couple of locks before leading them to the basement of the home.
After speaking with the girl, the Middletown Police were called.
She and six other children are now in the care of children's services.
Shawn and his wife, Joanna, the girl's stepmother, are now charged with child endangering and kidnapping.
Both have since bonded out of jail.
