MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (WDTN) - Middletown police are searching for the attacker who vanished after he pulled a knife on a child.
The manhunt began about 7:00am Wednesday morning and still no arrest.
The incident happened at the intersection of Sawyer Mill Drive and Riverview Avenue.
Police say the 12 year-old girl was attacked while waiting for the school bus. She was able to escape, but not before being cut with a knife.
She described what happened to a 911 operator. "He didn't talk. He was just running after me and I saw him, so I started running toward my house up the hill and he had a knife and he grabbed my hand and he cut it."
Police tell 2 NEWS the victim was waiting on a Franklin City Schools bus when she was attacked.
"According to the victim, his face was covered up with something she said it looked like a mask," said Major Mark Hoffman, Middletown Police Department.
District officials say parents did receive a phone call about the attack.
The suspect is described as a tall white male, wearing a black t shirt, black jacket and jeans.
