CHILLICOTHE (WDTN) - Petland executives announced Saturday that a federal district court in Arizona has dismissed the class action lawsuit against it.
The suit was filed by six individuals and supported by the
Humane Society of the United States. The Court’s ruling was
delivered on August 7, 2009.
The Court ruled that the Complain in the lawsuit failed to
provide any legal viable claims and failed to present any facts
establishing a relationship between the injuries claimed by the
plaintiffs and Petland.
In a statement, Petland executives said, "Petland is a
company of animal lovers, and in the wake of this legal victory
seeks to communicate its support for industry practices intended to
ensure healthy and well-socialized pets. Petland is committed to
providing its customers with a positive pet buying experience.
Petland is also a committed supporter of quality animal breeding.
Like the buying public and many animal support organizations,
Petland is opposed to substandard breeders and favors the
elimination of such breeders from the industry."
