DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - A family is in anguish because they can't bury their military father.

Military Veteran Jerry Reid of Dayton, died last week. He had a funeral at the House of Wheat but was not buried because of missing paperwork.

Jo Ann Reid wants her father Jerry Reid, to be buried at Dayton National Cemetery with the thousands of other veterans.

Reid served in the Army and fought in the Korean War. Jo Ann still carries his dog tags on her key chain. Her father was honorably discharged in 1966.  After the Army, he worked for the Montgomery County Health District and raised 5 children in Dayton.

This year he battled liver cancer and passed away last week. The funeral was on Wednesday, but he can't be buried at Dayton National Cemetery because his military paperwork is missing.

Jo Ann says the only records the Military have, claim her dad is missing in action in Korea. So until they find the paper work, she says her Dad will continue to be at in the morgue at the House of Wheat Funeral Home, and not where he belongs.

" He was an honorable man, he raised his children, he doesn't deserve to be treated like this. My dads getting a raw deal and it's just not right, it's not fair."

A funeral home director at the House of Wheat said they are working with the military, trying to locate the paperwork, and correct the problem.
