DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - After SharNett Bridal closed up shop this week, many local
bridal shops are coming to the rescue of dress-less brides and
offering them some great deals, so they can walk down the aisle in
the dress of their dreams.
Bride-to-be Sara Melampy is now scrambling to get a wedding
dress her big day.
"I don't want to sit around and wait. I want to get this
taken care of. I need something to wear on my wedding day! "
Melampy said.
She and dozens of brides are left in limbo after SharNett
bridal abruptly closed up shop without notice on Tuesday and left
them without their dresses.
"I'm a little stressed! " Bride to be Stephanie Simmerman
said. She is out brides maids dresses.
"I paid for them in full, all four of them."
Owner Sharon Arnett said the economy forced her to close the
bridal store .
Arnett told 2News she is working as fast she can, and is
currently delivering dresses and finishing all customers' orders.
But both these brides don't trust that Arnett will deliver
their dresses before their weddings, which are both next month.
These brides were relieved to know that owner Scott Wells
from romanticgowns.com is offering 50 percent off all wedding gowns
if you show a paid receipt from SharNett's.
His stock location is located on McEwen.
"They have been so accommodating. They have been great.
They've actually been my best experience wedding dress shopping."
Said Melampy
Wells says he saw the panic and fear and wanted to help.
"We've had a steady stream of brides come in and say I like
this one even better than the first one I purchased, and you see
that panic turn to tears of joy." Said Wells.
Dozens of brides have filed complaints with the Better
Business Bureau and the Miamisburg Police against SharNett Bridal.
The Police Department is now working with the Montgomery
County Prosecutors Office to see if any criminal charges can be
filed.
