ENGLEWOOD, Ohio (WDTN) - Brian and Jane Disney's red Mercury Tracer doesn't run, but the car sitting in the Walmart parking lot in Englewood has served as the couple's home for months.
"I mean everybody has hard times," Jane Disney said. "But you don't know how hard it is until you live in a tiny car and ask for help."
Jane said cold nights were the worst, and "there were three nights where I didn't feel my feet."
The couple's troubles started last year when Brian lost his construction job in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Things went from bad to worse when they were in a bad car accident.
"Unfortunately due to the impact, my wife got the worst of it," Brian said.
With doctors visits, physical therapy, and lawyers, the bills mounted. The couple had no where to go, so they came to Englewood to try to get help from Jane's son, but he lives with roommates.
"There is no room," said Jane.
A church group from Vandalia noticed the couple living in their car and put them up in a Motel 6, but that's temporary.
Brian Disney said he has been looking for work, but hasn't had any luck.
"We are just hoping and praying that things will come through," said Jane.
