DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - More than 30 local veterans are on a trip to remember.

But, this could be the last time because the organization involved is running low on funds.

2 News was there at the veterans loaded up for their final mission.

Army Veteran, Clyde McGillvary said, "I heard about about a year and a half ago and it didn't quite work out. But, today I'm gonna go."

Only this mission they aren't carrying guns. They're carrying cameras and lots of memories.

Vietnam Army Veteran, Herb Price said, "I'm really looking forward to seeing the wall. There's some guys I know that passed away, that died over there. So, I get to see their names on the wall."

Early Friday morning, Veterans to D.C. Committee loaded up 31 Miami County veterans, representing every branch of the military, for their 11th and final trip to Washington D.C.

W.W.II Air Force Veteran, James Henderson said, "It's my first one. I haven't been on one. I kind of enjoy it. I know I'm going to enjoy it."

Many of the travelers are finally getting to see the many statues and monuments their service helped build.

The Edison State preschoolers lead the veterans and audience in reciting The Pledge of Allegiance before the heroes were escorted out of town.
